Open Settings › Connections, then tap SIM manager.
On older One UI versions, SIM manager may appear as 'SIM card manager', and Add eSIM may appear as 'Add mobile plan', followed by 'Add using QR code' or 'Add using activation code'.
Tap Add eSIM.
Tap Scan QR code to open the scanner.
Point your Galaxy camera at the QR code shown on your second screen.
Show the code on a bright screen and fit the whole code inside the box.
Wait while your Galaxy reads the code. It will then ask if you want to add the eSIM.
When your Galaxy asks to add the eSIM, tap Add. Stay on Wi-Fi while it downloads, which can take a few minutes.
Tap eSIM 1 and name it HelloRoam. Then under Preferred SIMs, set Mobile data to HelloRoam.

On older One UI versions, SIM manager may appear as 'SIM card manager', and Add eSIM may appear as 'Add mobile plan', followed by 'Add using QR code' or 'Add using activation code'.
Tap Add eSIM.
Tap Scan QR code. The scanner opens, but you will not scan.
On the scanner screen, tap Enter activation code.
Copy the full activation code from your HelloRoam email and paste it into the field. Submit it and wait a moment. Your activation code will look like this: LPA:1$operator.com$ABCDE-12345
Paste it, don't type it. One wrong character and the code won't work.
When your Galaxy asks to add the eSIM, tap Add. Stay on Wi-Fi while it downloads.
Tap eSIM 1 and name it HelloRoam. Then set Mobile data to HelloRoam.

How to activate your Samsung Galaxy eSIM

When you land, turn on the HelloRoam line in SIM manager, then in Mobile networks switch Data Roaming Access on for HelloRoam and off for SIM 1, your home SIM.

Go to Settings, tap Connections, then tap SIM manager to find your installed HelloRoam eSIM profile.
Switch on the HelloRoam line. Then in Mobile networks, turn on Data Roaming Access.
On some Galaxy phones, depending on the carrier, this switch is called Data roaming instead.
In Mobile networks, pick SIM 1, your home SIM. Switch off Data Roaming Access. Your home carrier then cannot charge you for roaming.
Your eSIM is now live. Open a browser or any app to confirm your data connection is working.

Good to know

Enable Airplane mode first, then turn on Wi-Fi only. This stops Bell, Rogers, or Telus from billing you while you switch over.
Hold off on activating until you have landed. Your eSIM connects to a local network at your destination, not at home.

Two ways to check your connection:

Check the status bar on your Galaxy. A signal icon next to your HelloRoam line means you are online.
Open Settings › Connections › Mobile networks. Check that Data Roaming Access is on for HelloRoam.

Which Samsung Galaxy models support eSIM?

Samsung's eSIM list runs from the Galaxy S20 to the S26 series, including the S25 Edge and the S23 FE through S26 FE. It also covers the foldables, from the original Galaxy Fold and Z Flip up to the Z Fold8, Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Flip8, Z Flip7 FE and Z TriFold. In the US, Samsung lists the Note 20 series too. On the Galaxy A side, the A57, A56, A55, A54 and A37 have eSIM, though some only in certain regions. Cellular Galaxy Tab S9, Tab S10 and Tab S11 models support it as well. Samsung notes that a phone's country of origin can rule out eSIM even on a listed model, so check SIM manager for Add eSIM before you buy a plan for your trip.

Where is SIM manager on Samsung Galaxy?

On most Galaxy phones, SIM manager sits at Settings > Connections > SIM manager. On older One UI versions, it may show up as SIM card manager in the same spot instead. Can't spot it? Type SIM manager into the Settings search bar and it appears right away.

Can I install eSIM on Samsung without QR code?

You can add a HelloRoam eSIM to your Samsung without scanning a QR code by entering it manually instead. Open Settings, tap Connections, tap SIM manager, tap Add eSIM, tap Scan QR code, then tap Enter activation code. Paste the full activation code from your HelloRoam confirmation email and tap Add. That code usually arrives by email within a few minutes of payment.

Does Samsung Galaxy S24 support dual eSIM?

The Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra all support Dual SIM, meaning one physical SIM plus one eSIM, which Samsung calls Hybrid eSIM. The S25 and S26 series work the same way. Keep your home SIM in the tray and set HelloRoam as the eSIM, so your home number stays active while HelloRoam handles your data abroad. Manage both lines at Settings > Connections > SIM manager.

Why is my Samsung not reading the eSIM QR code?

If your Samsung won't scan the eSIM QR code, try these 4 fixes: update One UI, confirm your phone is carrier-unlocked, wipe the camera lens, and scan in good light about 15 cm away. Still no luck? Switch to manual entry. Open SIM manager, tap Add eSIM, tap Scan QR code, then tap Enter activation code, and paste the full code from your HelloRoam email. If that doesn't work either, email help@helloroam.com.

Which Samsung phones do not support eSIM?

These Galaxy phones use two physical SIM slots and don't appear on Samsung's eSIM list: the S20 FE, S21 FE, A02, A03, A12, A13 LTE, A13 5G, A14 5G, A15 5G, A32 5G, A42 5G, A52 5G and A53 5G. Samsung US calls these Dual Physical SIM models. Samsung also notes that a phone on its eSIM list can still lack eSIM, depending on its country of origin. To check your own Galaxy, open Settings > Connections > SIM manager. See Add eSIM there? It can take a HelloRoam eSIM. If not, that phone can't add one.

How do I transfer eSIM from iPhone to Samsung?

You can't transfer a HelloRoam eSIM from your iPhone to a Samsung once it's installed. Scanning the same QR code again on the Samsung won't work, and neither will the phone's own transfer feature. Don't delete the eSIM from your iPhone. Before its first connection to a network your plan covers at your destination, email help@helloroam.com. Setting it up at home doesn't count as that first connection. We can issue a new eSIM. If we issue one, add it on the Samsung at Settings > Connections > SIM manager > Add eSIM. Once that first connection happens, the code can't be used again, and we can't issue a new one just because you've switched phones.

My Samsung shows 'European SIM card only'. Can I still use eSIM?

Not always, so check the specific phone before you buy a plan. Samsung says eSIM support can vary by country of origin, even on a Galaxy model it otherwise lists. Open Settings > Connections > SIM manager. See Add eSIM there? You can install your HelloRoam eSIM on that phone. No Add eSIM option? That phone can't add an eSIM.

Which Galaxy A phones have eSIM?

Samsung's eSIM list includes the Galaxy A57, A56, A55 and A37 with no region limit. The A54 has eSIM only in Europe, North America, Korea and Japan, and the A36 and A35 only in Europe, North America and Korea. The A27, A26, A17 5G and A16 5G have eSIM only in North America, and the A25 5G and A23 5G only in Japan. Samsung lists Canada under North America. Older models like the A15 5G and A53 5G use two physical SIM cards instead. To check your own Galaxy, go to Settings > Connections > SIM manager and look for Add eSIM.

How do I check eSIM data usage on a Samsung Galaxy?

Go to Settings, tap Connections, then Data usage, and tap Mobile data usage to see which apps use the most data. Your Galaxy counts from the start of the billing cycle you set under Billing cycle and data warning. That is not the day your HelloRoam plan started. To see how much data your plan has left, open the HelloRoam app and check the My eSIM tab.
