Open Settings › Connections, then tap SIM manager.
On older One UI versions, SIM manager may appear as 'SIM card manager', and Add eSIM may appear as 'Add mobile plan', followed by 'Add using QR code' or 'Add using activation code'.
Tap Add eSIM.
Tap Scan QR code to open the scanner.
Point your Galaxy camera at the QR code on your second screen.
Show the code on a bright screen and fit the whole code inside the box.
Wait while your Galaxy reads the code. It will then ask if you want to add the eSIM.
Tap Add when your phone asks to add the eSIM. Stay on Wi-Fi while it downloads, which can take a few minutes.
Tap eSIM 1 and name it HelloRoam. Then under Preferred SIMs, set Mobile data to HelloRoam.

Tap Add when your phone asks to add the eSIM. Stay on Wi-Fi while it downloads, which can take a few minutes.
Tap eSIM 1 and name it HelloRoam. Then under Preferred SIMs, set Mobile data to HelloRoam.

Open Settings › Connections › SIM manager.
On older One UI versions, SIM manager may appear as 'SIM card manager', and Add eSIM may appear as 'Add mobile plan', followed by 'Add using QR code' or 'Add using activation code'.
Tap Add eSIM.
Tap Scan QR code. The scanner opens, but you won't scan.
On the scanner screen, tap Enter activation code instead.
Copy the full activation code from your HelloRoam email and paste it into the field. Submit it and wait a moment. The code looks like this: LPA:1$operator.com$ABCDE-12345
Paste, don't type. One wrong character and the code gets refused.
When your Galaxy asks to add the eSIM, tap Add. Stay on Wi-Fi while it downloads.
Tap eSIM 1 and name it HelloRoam. Then set Mobile data to HelloRoam.

How to activate your eSIM on Samsung

When you land, switch on the HelloRoam line in SIM manager, then in Mobile networks switch Data roaming on for HelloRoam and off for SIM 1, your home SIM.

Open Settings, tap Connections, then tap SIM manager to find your installed HelloRoam eSIM profile.
Switch on the HelloRoam line. Then in Mobile networks, turn on Data roaming.
On some US carrier handsets, this switch shows as Data Roaming Access.
In Mobile networks, pick SIM 1, your home SIM. Switch off Data roaming. Your home network then can't charge you for roaming.
Your eSIM is active. Open any app to confirm you have a working data connection.

Good to know

Turn on Flight mode first, then switch on Wi-Fi. This stops your home carrier (Vodacom, MTN, or Cell C) from adding extra charges to your bill.
Wait until you land at your destination before activating. The eSIM needs a local network to connect to.

Check the status bar at the top of your screen. You should see at least one signal bar next to your HelloRoam line.

Open Settings › Connections › Mobile networks. Check that Data roaming is on for HelloRoam.

Which Samsung Galaxy models support eSIM?

Samsung's official eSIM list covers the Galaxy S20 up to the S26 series, the S25 Edge, and FE models from the S23 FE to the S26 FE. Foldables range from the first Galaxy Fold and Z Flip to the Z Fold8, Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Flip8, Z Flip7 FE and Z TriFold, and in the US the Note 20 series is on the list as well. On the Galaxy A side there's the A57, A56, A55, A54 and A37, some only in certain regions, plus cellular Galaxy Tab S9, Tab S10 and Tab S11 tablets. Samsung warns that a phone's country of origin can still count eSIM out, so look for Add eSIM in SIM manager before you buy a HelloRoam plan.

Where is SIM manager on Samsung Galaxy?

On most Samsung Galaxy phones, SIM manager lives at Settings > Connections > SIM manager. Older One UI versions may show it as SIM card manager on the same path instead. Can't find it? Type SIM manager into the Settings search bar and it appears in seconds.

Can I install eSIM on Samsung without QR code?

You can add a HelloRoam eSIM to your Samsung without scanning a QR code, using manual entry instead. Open Settings, go to Connections, tap SIM manager, tap Add eSIM, tap Scan QR code, then tap Enter activation code. Paste in the full activation code from your HelloRoam confirmation email and tap Add. That code lands in your inbox within 5 minutes of purchase.

Does Samsung Galaxy S24 support dual eSIM?

The Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra all do Dual SIM with one physical SIM and one eSIM working together, which Samsung calls Hybrid eSIM, and the S25 and S26 series are listed the same way. Your Vodacom, MTN or Cell C SIM stays in the tray for calls, and HelloRoam goes on as the eSIM for data abroad. You'll find both lines under Settings > Connections > SIM manager.

Why is my Samsung not reading the eSIM QR code?

If your Samsung won't read the eSIM QR code, work through 4 fixes: update One UI, check the phone is carrier-unlocked, clean the camera lens, and scan in good light from about 15 cm away. Still no luck? Switch to manual entry: open SIM manager, tap Add eSIM, then Scan QR code, then Enter activation code, and paste in the full activation code from your HelloRoam email. If that fails too, email help@helloroam.com.

Which Samsung phones do not support eSIM?

These Galaxy phones use two physical SIM cards and don't appear on Samsung's eSIM list: the S20 FE, S21 FE, A02, A03, A12, A13 LTE, A13 5G, A14 5G, A15 5G, A32 5G, A42 5G, A52 5G and A53 5G. Samsung US lists them as Dual Physical SIM models. Samsung also warns that a model on its eSIM list can still lack eSIM, depending on the country of origin. To check your own phone, open Settings > Connections > SIM manager. If Add eSIM is there, it can take a HelloRoam eSIM. If it isn't, that phone can't add one.

How do I transfer eSIM from iPhone to Samsung?

You can't transfer a HelloRoam eSIM from an iPhone to a Samsung once it's installed. Scanning its QR code again on the Samsung won't work, and the phone's own transfer feature won't either. Don't delete the eSIM from the iPhone. Before it first connects to a network your plan covers at your destination, email help@helloroam.com. Installing it at home doesn't count as that connection. We can issue a new eSIM. If we do, add it on the Samsung at Settings > Connections > SIM manager > Add eSIM. Once that first connection happens, the code can't be used again, and we don't issue a new one just because you've changed phones.

My Samsung shows 'European SIM card only'. Can I still use eSIM?

That depends on your particular phone, so check before you buy a plan. Samsung says some Galaxy models on its own list may still lack eSIM, depending on their country of origin. Go to Settings > Connections > SIM manager. An Add eSIM option means you can install your HelloRoam eSIM there, and no Add eSIM option means this phone can't take one.

Which Galaxy A phones support eSIM?

Samsung's eSIM list includes the Galaxy A57, A56, A55 and A37, with no region limits. The A54 has eSIM only in Europe, North America, Korea and Japan, and the A36 and A35 only in Europe, North America and Korea. The A27, A26, A17 5G and A16 5G have eSIM only in North America, while the A25 5G and A23 5G have it only in Japan. Older models like the A15 5G and A53 5G use two physical SIM slots instead. To check your own Galaxy, open Settings > Connections > SIM manager and look for Add eSIM.

How do I check my eSIM data usage on a Samsung Galaxy?

Open Settings, tap Connections, then Data usage, and tap Mobile data usage to see which apps are using the most data. Your Galaxy counts from the start of the billing cycle you've set under Billing cycle and data warning, not from the day your HelloRoam plan began. To see how much data is left on your plan, open the HelloRoam app and check the My eSIM tab.
