Open Settings › Connections, then tap SIM manager.
On older One UI versions, SIM manager may appear as 'SIM card manager', and Add eSIM may appear as 'Add mobile plan', followed by 'Add using QR code' or 'Add using activation code'.
Tap Add eSIM.
Tap Scan QR code to open the scanner.
Point your Galaxy camera at the QR code shown on your second screen.
Show the code on a bright screen and fit the whole code inside the box.
Wait while your Galaxy reads the code. It'll then ask if you want to add the eSIM.
When your Galaxy asks to add the eSIM, tap Add. Stay on Wi-Fi while it downloads, which can take a few minutes.
Tap eSIM 1 and name it HelloRoam. Then under Preferred SIM card, set Mobile data to HelloRoam.

Open Settings › Connections › SIM manager.

Tap Add eSIM.
Tap Scan QR code. The scanner opens, but you won't scan.
On the scanner screen, tap Enter activation code.
Copy the full activation code from your HelloRoam email and paste it into the field, then submit it and wait a moment. The code looks like this: LPA:1$operator.com$ABCDE-12345
Paste, don't type it in. One wrong character and the code is refused.
When your Galaxy asks to add the eSIM, tap Add. Stay on Wi-Fi while it downloads.
Tap eSIM 1 and name it HelloRoam. Then set Mobile data to HelloRoam.

How to activate your eSIM on Samsung Galaxy

When you land, switch on the HelloRoam line in SIM manager, then in Mobile Networks turn Data Roaming on for HelloRoam and off for SIM 1, your home SIM.

Open Settings, tap Connections, then tap SIM manager to find your HelloRoam eSIM profile waiting there.
Switch on the HelloRoam line. Then in Mobile Networks, turn on Data Roaming.
On some Samsung phones bought on a US network, this switch is called Data Roaming Access.
In Mobile Networks, pick SIM 1, your home SIM. Switch off Data Roaming. Your home network then can't charge you for roaming.
Your eSIM is active. Open any app to check you have a live data connection up and running.

Good to know

Turn on airplane mode first, then switch on Wi-Fi. That way, your Eir, Vodafone Ireland, or Three account won't pick up roaming charges.
Hold off on activating until you land at your destination. The eSIM needs a local network to connect to.

4 Check · Signal and data

Check that your Galaxy eSIM is connected

Two quick ways to check:

Check the status bar. You should see at least one signal bar next to your HelloRoam line.

Open Settings › Connections › Mobile Networks. Check that Data Roaming is on for HelloRoam.

Which Samsung Galaxy models support eSIM?

Samsung's eSIM list goes from the Galaxy S20 right through to the S26 series, and takes in the S25 Edge plus every FE model from the S23 FE to the S26 FE. The foldables are there as well, starting with the first Galaxy Fold and Z Flip and running up to the Z Fold8, Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Flip8, Z Flip7 FE and Z TriFold, while Samsung US adds the Note 20 series. For the Galaxy A range, the A57, A56, A55, A54 and A37 have eSIM, some only in certain regions, as do cellular Tab S9, Tab S10 and Tab S11 tablets. Samsung warns that a phone's country of origin can still rule eSIM out, so check SIM manager for Add eSIM before you buy a plan.

Where is SIM manager on Samsung Galaxy?

You'll find SIM manager at Settings > Connections > SIM manager on most Galaxy phones. On older versions of One UI, it might be labelled SIM card manager instead, but it's in the same spot. Can't find it? Type SIM manager into the Settings search bar and it comes up right away.

Can I install eSIM on Samsung without QR code?

Adding a HelloRoam eSIM to your Samsung without a QR code just means entering the details by hand. Open Settings, go to Connections, tap SIM manager, tap Add eSIM, tap Scan QR code, then tap Enter activation code. Paste in the full activation code from your HelloRoam confirmation email and tap Add. That code lands in your inbox within 5 minutes of buying your plan.

Does Samsung Galaxy S24 support dual eSIM?

The Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra support Dual SIM, with one physical SIM and one eSIM, which Samsung calls Hybrid eSIM. The S25 and S26 series work the same way. Keep your home SIM in the tray and add HelloRoam as the eSIM, so your home number stays active while HelloRoam handles your data. Manage both lines at Settings > Connections > SIM manager.

Why is my Samsung not reading the eSIM QR code?

If your Samsung won't read the eSIM QR code, try these 4 fixes in order: update One UI to the latest version, check the phone is carrier-unlocked, clean the camera lens, and scan in good light about 15 cm away. If none of that works, use manual entry instead. Open SIM manager, tap Add eSIM, tap Scan QR code, then tap Enter activation code, and paste in the full code from your HelloRoam email. If manual entry doesn't work either, email help@helloroam.com.

Which Samsung phones do not support eSIM?

These Galaxy phones take two physical SIM cards and don't appear on Samsung's eSIM list: the S20 FE, S21 FE, A02, A03, A12, A13 LTE, A13 5G, A14 5G, A15 5G, A32 5G, A42 5G, A52 5G and A53 5G. Samsung US calls these Dual Physical SIM models. Samsung also notes that a model on its eSIM list can still miss out on eSIM, depending on its country of origin. To check your own phone, open Settings > Connections > SIM manager. If Add eSIM shows up there, it can take a HelloRoam eSIM. If it doesn't, that phone can't add an eSIM.

How do I transfer eSIM from iPhone to Samsung?

You can't transfer a HelloRoam eSIM from iPhone to Samsung once it's installed. Scanning the QR code again on the Samsung won't work, and the phone's own transfer feature won't work for it either. Don't delete the eSIM from the iPhone. What matters is whether it has already connected to a network your plan covers at your destination. Installing it at home doesn't count. If it hasn't connected yet, email help@helloroam.com and we can issue you a new eSIM. If we do, add it on the Samsung at Settings > Connections > SIM manager > Add eSIM. Once the original eSIM has connected, its code can't be used again, and we don't issue a new one for switching phones.

My Samsung shows 'European SIM card only'. Can I still use eSIM?

Only if SIM manager shows Add eSIM, so it's worth checking before you buy a plan. Samsung says that, depending on the country of origin, eSIM may not be supported even on a Galaxy it otherwise lists. Open Settings > Connections > SIM manager. If Add eSIM shows up there, you can install your HelloRoam eSIM. If there's no Add eSIM option, that phone can't add an eSIM.

Which Galaxy A phones have eSIM?

Samsung's eSIM list names the Galaxy A57, A56, A55, and A37 with no region limit. The A54 only gets eSIM in Europe, North America, Korea, and Japan, and the A36 and A35 only in Europe, North America, and Korea. The A27, A26, A17 5G, and A16 5G only get it in North America, and the A25 5G and A23 5G only in Japan. Older models like the A15 5G and A53 5G take two physical SIM cards instead. To check your own Galaxy, open Settings > Connections > SIM manager and look for Add eSIM.

How do I check my eSIM data usage on a Samsung Galaxy?

Open Settings, tap Connections, then Data usage, and tap Mobile data usage to see which apps are using the most data. Your Galaxy counts from the start of the billing cycle you've set under Billing cycle and data warning, not from the day your HelloRoam plan started. To see how much data is left on your plan, open the HelloRoam app and check the My eSIM tab.
