Open Settings › Connections, then tap SIM manager.
On older One UI versions, SIM manager may appear as 'SIM card manager' under Settings > Connections. Add eSIM may appear as 'Add mobile plan'. Other buttons may differ too, so follow the prompts on your screen.
Tap Add eSIM.
Tap Scan QR code to open the scanner.
Point your Galaxy camera at the QR code on your second screen.
Show the code on a bright screen and fit the whole code inside the box.
Wait while your Galaxy reads the code. It then asks if you want to add the eSIM.
Tap Add on the prompt to add the eSIM. Stay on Wi-Fi while it downloads, which can take a few minutes.
Tap eSIM 1 and name it HelloRoam. Then under Preferred SIMs, set Mobile data to HelloRoam.

Tap Add on the prompt to add the eSIM. Stay on Wi-Fi while it downloads, which can take a few minutes.

Add eSIM on Galaxy using an activation code

Open Settings › Connections › SIM manager.
On older One UI versions, SIM manager may appear as 'SIM card manager' under Settings > Connections. Add eSIM may appear as 'Add mobile plan'. Other buttons may differ too, so follow the prompts on your screen.
Tap Add eSIM.
Tap Scan QR code. The scanner opens, but you will not scan.
On the scanner screen, tap Enter activation code instead of scanning.
Copy the full activation code from your HelloRoam confirmation email and paste it into the field. Submit it and wait a moment for the phone to process it. The code looks like this: LPA:1$operator.com$ABCDE-12345
Paste, do not type. One wrong character and the code is refused.
When your Galaxy asks to add the eSIM, tap Add on the prompt. Stay on Wi-Fi while it downloads.
Tap eSIM 1 and name it HelloRoam. Then set Mobile data to HelloRoam.

3 Activate · When you land

Activating your HelloRoam eSIM on Samsung Galaxy

When you land, switch on the HelloRoam line in SIM manager, then in Mobile networks turn Data Roaming on for HelloRoam and off for SIM 1, your home SIM.

Go to Settings, tap Connections, then tap SIM manager. Your installed HelloRoam eSIM profile will appear there.
Switch on the HelloRoam line. Then in Mobile networks, turn on Data Roaming.
On some US carrier phones, this switch appears as Data Roaming Access instead.
In Mobile networks, pick SIM 1, your home SIM. Switch off Data Roaming. Your home network, such as Jio, Airtel or Vi, then cannot charge you for roaming.
The eSIM is now active. Open a browser or any app to verify your data connection is working.

Good to know

Switch on Airplane mode first, then re-enable Wi-Fi only. This prevents your Jio, Airtel, or Vi SIM from incurring charges abroad.
Do not activate until you have landed. Your eSIM requires a local network to establish a connection.

Confirm your Galaxy eSIM is working

Two ways to confirm:

Look at the status bar. You should see a signal indicator next to your HelloRoam eSIM line.
Open Settings › Connections › Mobile networks. Check that Data Roaming is on for HelloRoam.

Which Samsung Galaxy models support eSIM?

Samsung's eSIM list runs from the Galaxy S20 to the Galaxy S26 series, including the Galaxy S25 Edge and the Galaxy S23 FE to Galaxy S26 FE. It also names the foldables, from the first Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Z Flip to the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Flip8, Galaxy Z Flip7 FE and Galaxy Z TriFold. Samsung US lists the Galaxy Note 20 series too. Among Galaxy A phones, the Galaxy A57, Galaxy A56, Galaxy A55, Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A37 have eSIM, though some only in certain regions. Cellular Galaxy Tab S9, Tab S10 and Tab S11 models work with eSIM as well. Samsung notes that a phone's country of origin can still rule out eSIM, so check SIM manager for Add eSIM before you buy a HelloRoam plan for your trip.

Where is SIM manager on Samsung Galaxy?

Samsung Galaxy SIM manager sits at Settings > Connections > SIM manager on most Galaxy phones. On older One UI versions, it may show up as SIM card manager under the same path. If you cannot find it, type SIM manager into the Settings search bar and it appears in seconds.

Can I install eSIM on Samsung without QR code?

Yes, and it takes only a few taps. Manual entry involves no QR code: open Settings > Connections > SIM manager, tap Add eSIM, choose Scan QR code and then Enter activation code. Paste the full activation code from the HelloRoam confirmation email and tap Add. The email with your QR code and activation code usually arrives within a few minutes of payment, so you can start as soon as it lands.

Does Samsung Galaxy S24 support dual eSIM?

Dual SIM on the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra pairs one physical SIM with one eSIM, a setup Samsung calls Hybrid eSIM, and Samsung lists the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S26 series in the same way. Your Jio, Airtel or Vi SIM stays in the tray for calls, and HelloRoam goes in as the eSIM for travel data. Both lines are managed under Settings > Connections > SIM manager.

Why is my Samsung not reading the eSIM QR code?

Try these 4 fixes when your Samsung Galaxy will not read the eSIM QR code: update One UI, confirm the phone is carrier-unlocked, clean the camera lens, and scan in good light from about 15 cm away. If none of these work, use manual entry instead. Open SIM manager, tap Add eSIM, tap Scan QR code, then tap Enter activation code, and paste the full activation code from your HelloRoam email. If manual entry does not work either, write to help@helloroam.com and our support team will help you sort it out.

Which Samsung phones do not support eSIM?

These Galaxy phones use two physical SIM cards and do not appear on Samsung's eSIM list: the Galaxy S20 FE, Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy A02, Galaxy A03, Galaxy A12, Galaxy A13 LTE, Galaxy A13 5G, Galaxy A14 5G, Galaxy A15 5G, Galaxy A32 5G, Galaxy A42 5G, Galaxy A52 5G and Galaxy A53 5G. Samsung US lists all of these as Dual Physical SIM models. Samsung also says a phone on its eSIM list can still lack eSIM, depending on its country of origin. To check your own Galaxy, open Settings > Connections > SIM manager. If Add eSIM shows up there, your phone can take a HelloRoam eSIM. If it does not, that Galaxy cannot add an eSIM at all.

How do I transfer eSIM from iPhone to Samsung?

You cannot transfer an installed HelloRoam eSIM from an iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy. Scanning the same QR code again on the Samsung does not work, and a phone's own eSIM transfer feature does not work for it either. Do not delete the eSIM from the iPhone. Before the eSIM first connects to a network your plan covers at your destination, email help@helloroam.com. Installing the eSIM at home does not count as that connection. We can issue a new eSIM for your Samsung Galaxy. If we issue one, add it on the Samsung at Settings > Connections > SIM manager > Add eSIM. After that first connection, the original code cannot be used again. We do not issue a new eSIM for a change of phone.

My Samsung shows 'European SIM card only'. Can I still use eSIM?

Only if SIM manager shows Add eSIM, so always check before you buy a plan. Samsung says that, depending on the country of origin, eSIM may not be supported even on a model it lists as eSIM-ready. Open Settings > Connections > SIM manager. If Add eSIM shows up there, you can install your HelloRoam eSIM on this phone. If there is no Add eSIM option, this Galaxy cannot add an eSIM.

Which Galaxy A phones have eSIM?

Samsung confirms eSIM on the Galaxy A57, A56, A55 and A37 with no region limit. The A54 has eSIM only in Europe, North America, Korea and Japan, and the A36 and A35 are limited to Europe, North America and Korea. The A27, A26, A17 5G and A16 5G have eSIM only in North America, and the A25 5G and A23 5G only in Japan. Older models such as the A15 5G and A53 5G use two physical SIM cards instead. If you are not sure about your own Galaxy A, open Settings > Connections > SIM manager and look for Add eSIM.

How do I check eSIM data usage on a Samsung Galaxy?

Open Settings, tap Connections, then Data usage, and tap Mobile data usage to see which apps are using the most data. Your Galaxy counts usage from the start of the billing cycle you set under Billing cycle and data warning, not from the day your HelloRoam plan started. To check how much of your plan's data is left, open the HelloRoam app and look under the My eSIM tab.
