Google Pixel 7 eSIM Compatible: Set Up Your Pixel eSIM

eSIM runs on every Pixel 4 and later phone, according to Google, all the way to the Pixel 10 and Pixel 11 series. Older models have catches. A Pixel 3a bought with Verizon service or in Japan has no eSIM. A Pixel 3 from a US or Canadian carrier other than Sprint or Google Fi has none, and neither does one bought in Australia, Taiwan or Japan. The Pixel 2 supports eSIM only on handsets bought with Google Fi service. In the US, the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL are eSIM-only, with no physical SIM tray.

The eSIM setting on your Google Pixel lives at Settings > Network and Internet > SIMs. Choose to add a SIM, then tap Set up an eSIM. Can't find it? Type SIM into the Settings search bar and it appears right away. You manage every SIM and eSIM on your Pixel from this same SIMs screen.

Yes. Instead of a QR code, you can type in the details. Go to Settings > Network and Internet > SIMs, tap Add SIM, choose Set up an eSIM and select the option to enter the details yourself. Then copy the SM-DP+ address and activation code across from your HelloRoam email.

Yes, if your network supports it. Google says the Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro and later Pixels, including the Pixel 9 series, can keep 2 eSIM profiles active at once. Each Pixel from the Pixel 3a onward can also combine a physical SIM and an eSIM, other than a Pixel 3a bought in Japan. In the US, the Pixel 10 and newer run on eSIM alone, with the Pixel 10 Pro Fold as the exception. Manage both lines from Settings > Network and Internet > SIMs.

No. You can't transfer an installed HelloRoam eSIM between two Pixel phones. The wireless eSIM transfer built into Pixel setup doesn't work for it, and scanning its QR code again doesn't work either. Don't delete the eSIM from the old Pixel. Before it first connects to a network your plan covers at your destination, email help@helloroam.com. Installing it at home doesn't count as that connection. We can issue a new eSIM for the new Pixel. Once that first connection happens, the code can't be used again, and we don't issue a new one just because you've changed phones.

Only in the US. Google says the US Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL can't take a physical SIM at all and run two active eSIMs. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold keeps its nano SIM slot, and a Pixel 10 sold in other markets, the UK for one, comes with a nano SIM slot plus eSIM. Every Pixel 10 model supports eSIM, and HelloRoam plans for them start at R 16,79.

Yes. Google confirms eSIM on all Pixel 4 and later phones, so the Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel 7a are included. From the Pixel 7 onwards, 2 eSIMs can also run together if your carrier allows. To check your phone, open Settings > Network and Internet > SIMs and look for Add SIM. The Pixel has to be unlocked for a HelloRoam eSIM.

Yes. Google says eSIM works on every Pixel 4 and later phone, which covers the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 6a. Each one can run a physical SIM next to an eSIM, so your Vodacom, MTN or Cell C SIM stays in the tray and HelloRoam runs as the eSIM. Add it at Settings > Network and Internet > SIMs > Add SIM, with the Pixel unlocked.
