Google Pixel 6a eSIM Compatible: Set Up Your Pixel eSIM in 2 Minutes

According to Google, eSIM is supported on all Pixel 4 and later phones, including the Pixel 10 and Pixel 11 series. Earlier Pixels have restrictions. A Pixel 3a purchased with Verizon service or in Japan has no eSIM. A Pixel 3 has no eSIM if it came from a US or Canadian carrier other than Sprint or Google Fi, or was purchased in Australia, Taiwan or Japan. On the Pixel 2, eSIM works only on phones purchased with Google Fi service. In the US, the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL are eSIM-only and have no physical SIM tray.

Go to Settings > Network and Internet > SIMs on your Pixel, then tap Add SIM followed by Set up an eSIM. If you can't locate it, search SIM from the Settings search bar. Both your SIM and your eSIM are managed from that same SIMs screen.

Yes, if your telco allows it. Google says the Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro and all newer Pixels, the Pixel 9 series included, can run 2 eSIM profiles together. Every Pixel from the Pixel 3a onwards also supports one physical SIM with one eSIM, except a Pixel 3a purchased in Japan. US models from the Pixel 10 onwards are eSIM-only, apart from the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Both lines are managed under Settings > Network and Internet > SIMs.

No. You cannot transfer an installed HelloRoam eSIM between Pixel phones. Wireless eSIM transfer during Pixel setup does not work for it, and scanning the QR code again does not work either. Do not delete the eSIM from your old Pixel. Before it first connects to a network your plan covers at your destination, email help@helloroam.com. Installing it at home does not count as that first connection. We can issue a new eSIM for your new Pixel. After that first connection, its code cannot be used again. We do not issue a new one for a change of phone.

Only in the US. Google says US models of the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL cannot take a physical SIM and run two active eSIMs instead. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold keeps a nano SIM slot, and Pixel 10 units sold elsewhere, such as the UK, carry one nano SIM and one eSIM. To check yours, open Settings > Network and Internet > SIMs and look for Add SIM. To use a HelloRoam eSIM, your Pixel needs to be unlocked.

They do. Google counts every Pixel 4 and later as eSIM-ready, so the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 6a are all covered. On each one, a physical SIM and an eSIM can work together: keep your usual SIM in its tray and run HelloRoam as the eSIM. Go to Settings > Network and Internet > SIMs > Add SIM to add it, on a Pixel that is unlocked.
