Tap Set up an eSIM.
Point your Pixel camera at the QR code shown on your second screen.
Show the code on a bright screen and fit the whole code inside the box.
Review the plan details and confirm to finish.

Review the plan details and confirm to finish.
Your HelloRoam eSIM is on the phone. Tap Next to label it and set your primary SIMs.

Add Pixel eSIM by typing an activation code

Choose to add a SIM, tap Set up an eSIM, then enter the details yourself.
Type the SM-DP+ address and activation code from your HelloRoam confirmation email. Your code looks like this: LPA:1$operator.com$ABCDE-12345
Review the plan details and confirm to finish the eSIM setup.

3 Activate · When you land

How to activate your Google Pixel eSIM

Once you land, head to Settings › Network and internet › SIMs, tap HelloRoam, flick on Use this SIM and Roaming, then switch Roaming off for your home SIM.

Head to Settings, tap Network and internet, then tap SIMs to find your HelloRoam eSIM profile waiting there.
Tap HelloRoam, switch on Use this SIM, then turn on Roaming.
Back in SIMs, tap your home SIM and switch off Roaming. Your home provider then can't charge you for roaming.
Pixel lists each SIM by its provider's name. Your home SIM is the one that isn't HelloRoam.
Your eSIM is live. Open any app and confirm you're pulling data from the local network.

Good to know

Put your phone on Airplane mode first, then join Wi-Fi. This keeps your Telstra, Optus, or Vodafone AU plan from racking up data charges overseas.
Hold off on activating until you touch down at your destination. The eSIM needs a local mobile network to latch onto.

4 Check · Signal and data

Make sure your Pixel eSIM is working

Two quick checks:

Check the status bar on your Pixel. You should see a signal icon next to your HelloRoam line.

Open Settings › Network and internet › SIMs, tap HelloRoam and check that Roaming is on.

Which Google Pixel models support eSIM?

Google says every Pixel 4 and later works with eSIM, right up to the Pixel 10 and Pixel 11 series, though older models have limits. A Pixel 3a bought on Verizon or in Japan misses out. A Pixel 3 bought on a US or Canadian carrier other than Sprint or Google Fi has no eSIM either, and neither does one bought in Australia, Taiwan or Japan. On the Pixel 2, only phones bought with Google Fi service get eSIM. In the US, the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL are eSIM only, with no physical SIM tray.

Where is the eSIM option on Google Pixel?

The eSIM option on Google Pixel sits at Settings > Network and internet > SIMs. Tap Add SIM, then Set up an eSIM. Stuck? Type 'SIM' into the Settings search bar and it turns up straight away. You manage every SIM and eSIM on your Pixel from this same SIMs screen.

Can I install eSIM on Pixel without a QR code?

Yes, you can add a HelloRoam eSIM to any supported Pixel without scanning a QR code, by entering the details yourself. Go to Settings > Network and internet > SIMs, tap Add SIM, then Set up an eSIM, and choose to enter the details. Paste in the SM-DP+ address and activation code from your HelloRoam email.

Does Google Pixel 9 support dual eSIM?

Yep, if your carrier allows it. Google says the Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro and every Pixel since, Pixel 9 series included, can have 2 eSIM profiles running at once. Any Pixel from the Pixel 3a onward can also combine one physical SIM with one eSIM, bar a Pixel 3a bought in Japan. US Pixel 10 and later models are eSIM only, apart from the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. You'll find both lines in Settings > Network and internet > SIMs.

Can I transfer eSIM between Pixel phones?

No. You can't transfer an installed HelloRoam eSIM between Pixel phones. The wireless eSIM transfer built into Pixel setup doesn't work for it, and scanning the QR code again doesn't work either. Don't delete the eSIM from your old Pixel. Before it first connects to a network your plan covers in your destination, email help@helloroam.com. Installing it at home doesn't count as that connection. We can issue a new eSIM for your new Pixel. After that first connection, the original eSIM's code can't be used again, and we don't issue a new one just because you've switched phones.

Can a Pixel 10 take a physical SIM, or only eSIM?

Only in the US. Google says US models of the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL can't take a physical SIM at all, running two active eSIMs instead. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold keeps its nano SIM slot, and the Pixel 10 sold outside the US, such as in the UK, has one nano SIM plus one eSIM. Every Pixel 10 model works with eSIM, and HelloRoam plans for it start at A$1.46.

Does the Pixel 7 have eSIM?

Yes. Google says eSIM works on every Pixel 4 and later phone, so the Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel 7a all have it. From the Pixel 7 on, you can also run 2 eSIMs together if your carrier allows. To check your phone, go to Settings > Network and internet > SIMs and look for Add SIM. A HelloRoam eSIM needs the Pixel to be unlocked.

Do the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6a support eSIM?

Yes. The Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 6a all support eSIM, as Google confirms for every Pixel 4 and later phone. Each can run a physical SIM next to an eSIM, so your Telstra or Optus SIM stays in the tray while HelloRoam works as the eSIM. Add it under Settings > Network and internet > SIMs > Add SIM, and make sure the Pixel is unlocked first.
