Google Pixel 7 eSIM Compatible: Set Up Your Pixel eSIM

Every Google Pixel from the Pixel 4 onwards supports eSIM, according to Google, through to the Pixel 10 and Pixel 11 series. It's the older handsets that come with caveats. A Pixel 3a has no eSIM if it was bought in Japan or with Verizon service. A Pixel 3 lacks it if it came from Australia, Taiwan or Japan, or from a US or Canadian carrier other than Sprint or Google Fi. The Pixel 2 only offers eSIM on handsets sold with Google Fi service. US versions of the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL are eSIM-only.

Head to Settings > Network and Internet > SIMs on your Pixel, then tap Add SIM and choose Set up an eSIM. Can't spot it? Type SIM into the search bar at the top of Settings. That same SIMs screen is where every SIM and eSIM on the phone is managed.

Yes, a QR code isn't essential. Go to Settings > Network and Internet > SIMs, tap Add SIM, pick Set up an eSIM and opt to enter the details by hand. Then paste in the SM-DP+ address and activation code from your HelloRoam email, and the eSIM installs as normal.

Yes, with your carrier's blessing. Google says the Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro and every newer Pixel, the Pixel 9 series included, can keep 2 eSIM profiles active together. From the Pixel 3a on, you can also run one physical SIM alongside one eSIM, unless it's a Pixel 3a sold in Japan. In the US, the Pixel 10 and later are eSIM-only, with the Pixel 10 Pro Fold the exception. Both lines live under Settings > Network and Internet > SIMs.

You cannot transfer an installed HelloRoam eSIM between Pixel phones. The wireless eSIM transfer built into Pixel setup does not work for it, and scanning its QR code again does not work either. Do not delete the eSIM from your old Pixel. Before it first connects to a network your plan covers at your destination, email help@helloroam.com. Installing it at home does not count as that connection. We can issue a new eSIM for your new Pixel. Once that first connection happens, the code cannot be used again, and we do not issue a new one for a change of phone.

Only in the US. Google says US models of the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL can't use a physical SIM, and run two active eSIMs instead. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold keeps a nano SIM slot, and so does the UK's Pixel 10, which pairs one nano SIM with one eSIM. Every Pixel 10 model works with eSIM, and HelloRoam plans for it start at £0.77.

It does. Google lists every Pixel 4 and later as eSIM-capable, which covers the Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel 7a. From the Pixel 7 on, the phone can also hold 2 eSIMs active at once, carrier permitting. To confirm yours, look for Add SIM under Settings > Network and Internet > SIMs. Your Pixel needs to be unlocked before a HelloRoam eSIM will work.

Yes, all three do: the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 6a support eSIM, as Google says every Pixel 4 and later does. They can run a physical SIM and an eSIM side by side, so your usual SIM stays in the tray and HelloRoam goes on as the eSIM. Add it through Settings > Network and Internet > SIMs > Add SIM, on an unlocked Pixel.
