Only need data? A HelloRoam Europe eSIM keeps maps, rail apps and messages running on one plan as you cross the borders it covers.
We read every Orange plan, price and rule below on Orange's own store, help and news pages, and the AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile figures on those carriers' own pages, on October 27, 2026. Prices and discounts change, so check the plan page before you buy.
Orange Holiday Europe now sells under the Orange Travel name
Orange's travel news site put it plainly in its April 2026 plans guide: "Orange Holiday Europe is now Orange Travel." The old name hasn't vanished. Orange France still runs an Orange Holiday Europe page, and its steps for the eSIM version start with "Go to travel.orange.com."
You can buy the eSIM on Orange Travel's website or in its app for iPhone and Android. The physical Orange Holiday SIM card is a different route: Orange France says it sells in Orange stores in mainland France and in some Relay stores at airports and train stations.
That plastic card won't work in an iPhone 14 or later bought in the US. Apple's SIM guide says those models can only be activated with an eSIM.
Orange eSIM Europe plans and prices in US dollars
Orange Travel sells two kinds of Europe plan. Data + Calls + SMS plans add a French number, unlimited calls and texts within Europe, and a set allowance of minutes and texts "to the world." Data plans carry no number, calls or texts. Every plan lists unlimited hotspot sharing.
| Data + Calls + SMS plan | Price | Minutes and texts to the world | Network Orange lists |
|---|---|---|---|
| 20GB, 14 days | $29.99 | 30 minutes, 200 texts | 4G |
| 50GB, 30 days | $38.99 (30% off $53.99) | 120 minutes, 1,000 texts | 4G |
| 100GB, 30 days | $57.99 (30% off $82.99) | 120 minutes, 1,000 texts | 5G |
| 200GB, 30 days | $69.99 (35% off $107.99) | 120 minutes, 1,000 texts | 5G |
| 500GB, 90 days | $119.99 (40% off $203.99) | 360 minutes, 3,000 texts | 5G |
The data-only plans drop the number, the calls and the texts. Orange lists 4G on every one with a set size, and keeps 5G for the 100GB and bigger calls plans.
| Data-only plan | Price |
|---|---|
| Unlimited, 5, 10, 15 or 30 days (Orange lists up to 100GB a day) | $20.99 for 5 days, $37.99 for 10, $50.99 for 15, $74.99 for 30 |
| 10GB, 14 days | $19.99 |
| 20GB, 14 days | $27.99 |
| 20GB, 30 days | $28.99 |
| 50GB, 30 days | $51.99 |
| 100GB, 30 days | $55.49 (30% off $77.99) |
| 100GB, 45 days | $56.49 (30% off $79.49) |
| 200GB, 45 days | $74.99 (20% off $92.99) |
| 500GB, 90 days | $117.49 (40% off $199.49) |
Check the discounts before you pick. On the day we checked, the 50GB calls plan at $38.99 cost $13 less than the 50GB data-only plan at $51.99, because only the calls plan carried a discount. The page gave no end date for any of them.
Older prices still float around. Orange Travel's April 16, 2026 plans guide lists a 1GB data-only plan for 7 days at $5.99 and a 4GB one for 7 days at $9.99, and Orange France's Holiday page still shows 1GB and 4GB packs, but the Orange Travel store had neither on October 27, 2026. The same guide describes Orange Holiday Zen as 20GB with 30 minutes and 200 texts, which matches the store's 14-day calls plan that day.
Calls and texts on the French number follow Orange's rules, not your US plan's
The calls plans give you a French mobile number that starts with +33. Here's how the allowance works, from the plan details and Orange Travel's help page on calls:
- Calls and texts to numbers in Europe are unlimited.
- A call to a US number isn't a local call, so it comes out of the minutes to the world: 30 on the 14-day plan, 120 on the 30-day plans and 360 on the 90-day plan.
- Answering a call while you're in Europe uses none of your allowance. Outside Europe, incoming calls use your minutes.
- Texts you receive never use your plan.
- Dial every number in international format, with + and the country code, even a local one. Short, special and premium-rate numbers don't work.
- Voicemail answers in French only. Dial 888 to set it up.
Your US line can still run up a bill next to it. On a line with a day pass, AT&T and Verizon start a daily charge the first time it uses data, makes or answers a call, or sends a text abroad, and AT&T says texts you receive don't trigger it. So leave the US line on for bank codes, and make calls home over WhatsApp or FaceTime on Orange's data.
Orange's Europe plan covers 38 places, and Turkey isn't one of them
All 17 Europe plans list the same 38 places: the 27 EU countries plus the UK, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Andorra, Monaco, Vatican City, Gibraltar, Guernsey and Jersey, with the Åland Islands listed on their own. Orange Travel's help page says the eSIM joins a local partner network in each country, with nothing to set up when you arrive.
The list leaves out Turkey, Albania, Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Liechtenstein and San Marino. So a cruise stop in Kotor or a side trip to Istanbul falls outside it.
Orange's own pages disagree here. Orange France's Holiday Europe page lists more than 40 places and adds Liechtenstein, San Marino, the Isle of Man, the Faroe Islands, Moldova and Ukraine. Orange Travel's own Europe page also names the Isle of Man in its text, though no plan's list does. Orange Travel's help says each plan page lists the countries that plan covers, so go by the plan page, and ask Orange Travel's support before a trip to any place on one list but not the other.
Orange requires an ID check within your first 30 days
Orange Travel says French law requires every eSIM to be registered, and it gives you 30 days. You can install the eSIM, use data and make calls before you register. The online form takes about 5 minutes, verification takes around 10 days, and you upload a valid passport or ID card. If Orange doesn't get your documents within 30 days, it suspends the line. Orange's help says a line suspended this way can't be reactivated, so you'd need a new eSIM. That matters most on the 45-day and 90-day plans, which run past the 30-day window.
Orange suggests registering as soon as you get the eSIM if you'll use it past your first few days or top it up later.
Your plan's days start at your destination, not at home. Orange's help says validity begins when you activate the eSIM there by turning on data roaming, so installing it at home costs you no days.
Three Orange rules can cost you days, or the whole eSIM:
- A top-up restarts your validity instead of adding to it. With 10 days left, a 30-day top-up gives you 30 days, not 40, so top up on your plan's last day.
- Don't delete the eSIM if it acts up when you land. Orange says it can't be downloaded again, so contact its support instead.
- Each QR code installs once, on one phone. Getting a new phone before the trip? Install the eSIM on the new one.
If your trip falls through, Orange refunds a plan you haven't used. Its refund page says an eSIM you installed but never switched on with data roaming at your destination still counts as unused.
Orange Travel vs AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile on a two-week trip
Here's what 14 days of daily phone use in Europe costs one line, from each company's own prices. Our explainer on what US carriers charge for roaming covers how each pass bills.
| Option | Cost for 14 days | Data | Your number and calls |
|---|---|---|---|
| Orange Travel 20GB calls plan | $29.99 | 20GB | French number, unlimited calls and texts within Europe |
| Orange Travel 10GB data plan | $19.99 | 10GB | No number |
| AT&T International Day Pass | $120 (at most 10 daily fees of $12 per bill period) | Your US plan's data | Your US number and plan |
| Verizon TravelPass | $168 plus taxes and fees | 5GB of high-speed data per 24-hour session, then 3G speeds | Your US number |
| Verizon International Monthly Plan | $100 for one month | 20GB of high-speed data, then 3G speeds | 250 minutes, unlimited texts |
| T-Mobile Experience Beyond | No extra charge | 15GB of high-speed data, then up to 256Kbps | Unlimited texting, calls at $0.50 a minute |
| T-Mobile Experience More | No extra charge | 5GB of high-speed data, then up to 256Kbps | Unlimited texting, calls at $0.50 a minute |
AT&T's figure assumes the trip stays inside one bill period. Cross your bill date and the 10-fee count starts again, which our AT&T Day Pass guide covers along with the plans that skip the fee. Verizon charges $12 for every day you use the phone and points trips of 9 days or longer to its $100 monthly plan.

On those numbers, Orange's 14-day calls plan costs a quarter of AT&T's Day Pass and less than a third of Verizon's monthly plan, and it adds a European number.
T-Mobile is the main exception. Experience Beyond already includes 15GB abroad, so Orange pays off there only if you need more data or local calls. Other T-Mobile plans work differently, as our T-Mobile international roaming guide shows. Verizon's travel page names one more: its Unlimited Ultimate plan already includes international data, talk and text, so TravelPass can't be added to it.
Your phone has to be unlocked and ready for eSIM
Apple says an iPhone can't use another carrier's eSIM abroad while it's locked to a carrier. Apple's guide to travel eSIMs gives the check: open Settings, tap General, then About, and look for "No SIM Restrictions" next to Carrier Lock. On any phone, check that your phone supports eSIM before you pay.
- At home, install the eSIM over Wi-Fi a few hours before you fly. Orange's app installs it in one tap. To use the QR code from your order email instead, show it on a second screen or print it. Orange says a phone can't scan a code on its own screen.
- When you land, turn on the Orange line and its data roaming, then pick it for cellular data. On an iPhone, that's Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data.
- On an iPhone, leave Allow Cellular Data Switching off. Apple says that setting lets the phone use data from both lines, and any data your US line uses abroad can start a day pass.
- Sharing with a laptop? Orange puts no limit on hotspot sharing, but your phone shares whichever line is set for mobile data, so make sure it's Orange.

When Orange's eSIM fits, and when a data-only eSIM fits better
Pick Orange's calls plan if you'll phone European numbers: restaurants, hotels, a rental car desk, a tour guide. You get a local number to give out, and the 30-day plans include 120 minutes to the world for calls home.
A data-only eSIM fits if your calls go over WhatsApp or FaceTime, or if your route leaves Orange's list. HelloRoam's Europe and France plans are data-only, with no phone number. If it's Orange's network you're after in France, our travel eSIM plans for France connect to Orange's 5G network there, while our Europe plan uses SFR in France, according to our plan catalog on October 31, 2026. Networks can change, so check the plan page before you buy.
Coverage differs too. That day, our Europe plan's list included Liechtenstein, which Orange Travel's plan list doesn't, but it left out Andorra, Monaco, Vatican City, Guernsey, Jersey and the Åland Islands, which Orange covers. Neither plan covers Turkey.
We sell travel eSIMs, so weigh our take with that in mind. Our editorial policy explains how we handle that conflict of interest, and our page comparing a travel eSIM with roaming lays out the wider trade-offs.
Questions travelers ask
Can I buy Orange eSIM online?
Yes. Orange Travel sells it on travel.orange.com and in its app, and Orange says the QR code reaches you by email within a few minutes of your order. You can pay with Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal or Link. Orange sets the currency from your country, so a US buyer pays in US dollars, and it says the price shown is the exact amount charged.
Is eSIM supported in Europe?
Yes. Apple's eSIM carrier page lists carriers country by country across Europe. In France, it shows Orange, SFR, Bouygues Telecom and Free supporting eSIM on iPhone, and all four offering prepaid plans to international travelers. Travel eSIMs like Orange's connect to a partner network in each country.
Is an eSIM more secure than a physical SIM?
Apple says it is, because an eSIM can't be removed if your iPhone is lost or stolen. Apple adds that with an eSIM you don't need to get, carry or swap physical SIM cards, which can also be lost. Supported iPhones can keep two eSIMs active at once, so your US line and a travel line both stay on.
