A HelloRoam Jamaica eSIM is another way to land with data. You install it at home, and it's ready for your transfer, maps and WhatsApp when you touch down at Sangster or Norman Manley airport.
We checked every Digicel price, plan and rule in this guide on November 3, 2026, on Digicel Jamaica's site, Digicel's eSIM store and Digicel's mobile terms, plus AT&T, T-Mobile and Apple pages. Prices are in US dollars unless marked J$.
Digicel's tourist eSIM for Jamaica comes in 3-day and 28-day plans
Digicel Jamaica's tourist page and Digicel's eSIM store list the same two Jamaica plans, each with data and calling minutes. The store calls them Vacation Plans. Two Caribbean data plans that include Jamaica sit on the same store page.
| Plan | Data | Calls | Valid for | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3-Day Tourist Plan | 7GB | 60 minutes | 3 days | $12 |
| 28-Day Tourist Plan eSIM | 25GB | 180 minutes to local, US and Canada numbers | 28 days | $50 |
| Travel SIM 5GB (Caribbean) | 5GB | None, data only | 30 days | $30 |
| Travel SIM 10GB (Caribbean) | 10GB | None, data only | 30 days | $40 |
Neither Jamaica plan lists texts. Of the two Caribbean plans, the cheaper one covers more places: Digicel counts 22 countries for the 5GB plan and 19 for the 10GB plan, and both lists include Jamaica. Digicel Jamaica's page also shows the two Jamaica plans as J$1,920 and J$8,000 before General Consumption Tax (GCT), so check the total at checkout.
Check when the days start before you install. Digicel's store says a plan's validity begins either when you install it or when you arrive, depending on the provider, and the plan details say which. Its 28-day plan page says to activate the eSIM when you land in Jamaica. That timing matters most on the 3-day plan.
Any eSIM in Jamaica needs an unlocked, eSIM-ready phone
Every eSIM here, Digicel's and ours, needs an unlocked phone that supports eSIM. On an iPhone, open Settings, tap General, then About. Digicel's store says "Digital SIM" or "eSIM" on that screen means the phone supports eSIM, and Apple says "No SIM Restrictions" next to Carrier Lock means it's unlocked.
Apple lists the iPhone XS, XS Max, XR and later for eSIM, and you need Wi-Fi or a hotspot to set one up, as Apple's page on eSIM for travel explains. On a Samsung, Digicel says to open Settings, then Connections, then SIM Card Manager, and look for "Add Mobile Plan". For other models, see which phones work with eSIM.
A regular Digicel eSIM line starts in a Digicel store
Digicel's mobile terms say its regular eSIM service is activated in an authorized Digicel store. Activation there means scanning a QR code and downloading the eSIM to your phone, and new customers get a new phone number with it. Bring your passport: Apple notes that local carriers may ask for ID such as a passport, and Digicel's SIM-To-Go terms ask for valid government photo ID to register a SIM.
A regular prepaid line uses Digicel's Prime Brawta plans, which hold far more data for the money. On Digicel's own pre-tax prices, the 28-day Prime Brawta plan costs J$4,000 for 60GB, half the J$8,000 of the 28-day tourist eSIM with 25GB. These are the standard Prime Brawta plans on Digicel's prepaid page. The dollar column uses the Bank of Jamaica's buying rate for October 26, 2026: J$157.7405 per US dollar.
| Prime Brawta plan | Data | Local minutes | Price before GCT | About in US dollars, before tax |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 Day | 6GB | 100 | J$350 | $2.22 |
| 3 Day | 16GB | 300 | J$650 | $4.12 |
| 7 Day | 35GB | 500 | J$1,200 | $7.61 |
| 28 Day | 60GB | 2,500, plus 100 international | J$4,000 | $25.36 |
You can activate plans in the MyDigicel app. Digicel lists the 28-day plan as auto-renewing at J$3,900, so check its renewal before you leave Jamaica.
Digicel's store locator lists no store at Sangster or Norman Manley airport, and none of its stores shows Sunday hours. These are the listed stores in Montego Bay and Ocho Rios, plus two of the six with a Kingston address:
| Area | Digicel store | Hours listed |
|---|---|---|
| Montego Bay | Shop 14, Fairview Shopping Complex | Mon to Sat, 9 AM to 5 PM |
| Montego Bay | Corner of Church Street and St. James Street | Mon to Sat, 9 AM to 6 PM |
| Ocho Rios | Shop GF 10, Island Plaza | Mon to Sat, 9 AM to 6 PM |
| Ocho Rios | 70 Main Street | Mon to Fri, 9 AM to 6 PM; Sat, 9 AM to 7 PM |
| Kingston | 14 Ocean Boulevard | Mon to Sat, 9 AM to 6 PM |
| Kingston | Pavilion Mall, 2-4 Constant Spring Road | Mon to Sat, 9 AM to 5 PM |
Staying in Negril? Digicel lists no store in Negril itself, though its list has stores in Lucea, Savanna-la-Mar and Whitehouse. If a physical SIM is fine, Digicel's SIM-To-Go pack is sold at shops, pharmacies and gas stations, and you register it yourself online.
A travel eSIM skips the store
The other route is a travel eSIM that you buy online and set up before you fly. Our plan catalog on November 4, 2026, lists Jamaica plans from 1GB for 7 days up to 20GB for 30 days. Every HelloRoam Jamaica plan in it connects to Flow's 4G network, not Digicel's. Networks can change, so ask our 24/7 support before you buy if one network matters to you.
Our Jamaica plans carry data only, with no minutes or texts, so calls go through apps like WhatsApp or FaceTime. Install the eSIM at home over Wi-Fi. When you land, switch the line on, turn on data roaming for that line and pick it for mobile data. The plan's days start when the eSIM first connects in Jamaica.
| Digicel tourist eSIM | Regular Digicel eSIM line | HelloRoam Jamaica eSIM | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where you get it | Digicel's eSIM store, online | An authorized Digicel store | Online, installed at home |
| Data | 7GB for 3 days or 25GB for 28 days | Prime Brawta plans, from 6GB for 1 day | 1GB for 7 days up to 20GB for 30 days |
| Calls | 60 or 180 minutes | A Digicel number with local minutes | None, data only |
| Network | Digicel | Digicel | Flow 4G |
Digicel is the better pick in two cases. Its tourist eSIMs include calling minutes, and the 28-day plan's minutes reach local, US and Canada numbers, handy for drivers and tour pickups. A regular Digicel line costs far less per gigabyte, if you can spend time in a store for the eSIM or use a SIM-To-Go card. A travel eSIM like ours fits when you want to install at home and still get every day of the plan in Jamaica.
Visiting more islands? In the same catalog, our Caribbean plan also connects in Jamaica to C&W, the company behind Flow, and covers places such as Barbados and the Dominican Republic on one eSIM.
A note on bias: HelloRoam sells travel eSIMs, which is why the cases where Digicel fits better are spelled out here. Here's how we handle that conflict.
Before you buy a Digicel eSIM, check your AT&T or T-Mobile plan
AT&T lists Jamaica as an International Day Pass destination: $12 a day, plus $6 for each extra line used the same day. Unlike the Dominican Republic, Jamaica isn't on the Latin America list that AT&T's Premium 2.0 and Elite 2.0 plans include. Our rundown of what each AT&T plan charges abroad covers the rest.
If your AT&T line stays on beside a local eSIM, watch how you use it. AT&T says your first data use, sent text, or call you make or accept in an included destination starts a 24-hour Day Pass and its daily fee. The data roaming switch only controls data, as our data roaming explainer shows, so a call or a text can still start that fee.
T-Mobile lists Jamaica among the destinations its international roaming benefit includes. How much high-speed data you get depends on your plan, as our guide to T-Mobile's data allowances abroad shows. For any daily fee, multiply it by your days in Jamaica, then set it against the Digicel and travel eSIM prices above.

Questions travelers ask
Which eSIM is best for Jamaica?
It comes down to calls and setup. Digicel's tourist eSIM includes calling minutes: 7GB with 60 minutes for 3 days at $12, or 25GB with 180 minutes for 28 days at $50, bought online. A regular Digicel line on a Prime Brawta plan gives far more data for the money than the tourist plans, but you set it up in a Digicel store. For data only, installed at home before you fly, a travel eSIM such as ours fits, and every HelloRoam Jamaica plan ran on Flow's 4G network in our November 4, 2026 catalog. Each one needs an unlocked phone that supports eSIM.
How do I turn my Digicel SIM into an eSIM?
Visit an authorized Digicel store. Digicel's mobile terms say eSIM activation happens there, by scanning a QR code that downloads the eSIM to a compatible phone. Existing customers keep their number, and only the Digicel plan moves to the eSIM, so back up any contacts saved on the old SIM card first.
How much does a Digicel SIM card cost in Jamaica?
Digicel's SIM-To-Go pack costs J$750, about $4.75, and comes with a free 3-day Prime bundle. Register it online with valid government-issued photo ID, put the SIM in your phone and dial 122. Until it's registered, it can't make or receive calls or texts, and Digicel deactivates a SIM that isn't activated within seven days.
