Georgia has three main mobile operators: Magticom, Silknet, and Beeline Georgia. Magticom has the largest customer base and strongest national coverage. All three provide 4G LTE in Tbilisi and other major cities. HelloRoam travellers connect through these networks.
Tbilisi has excellent 4G coverage across the old town (Kala), Rustaveli Avenue, Vake Park, the airport, and all main residential and tourist areas. Batumi, the Black Sea resort city, also has strong 4G coverage along the seaside boulevard, the central park, and the port area.
The Caucasus mountain towns and valleys are where Georgia's coverage becomes more nuanced. Kazbegi (Stepantsminda) town has 4G coverage, and the Gergeti Trinity Church viewpoint above the town has coverage. The Georgian Military highway from Tbilisi to Kazbegi passes through mountain gorges with variable signal. Gudauri ski resort has 4G in the main resort village. The Svaneti region, including Mestia and the Ushguli village cluster, has 4G in Mestia town and limited signal in Ushguli.
Very high mountain passes, the Tusheti region (only accessible by jeep on rough mountain roads), and remote highland villages may have limited signal. Average 4G speeds in Tbilisi run 20 to 60 Mbps. Australian travellers should confirm their handset is unlocked and supports the local network bands.
