Mallorca has a clear peak season. July and August draw the largest crowds to Palma, the coves of the northeast, and the beach clubs of the south. Hotels and villas are at their most expensive and popular beaches like Cala Mondrago and Es Trenc fill by midmorning. June and September are the practical choice: water temperatures are warm, 22C to 25C, weather is excellent, and crowds are noticeably smaller. May is ideal for the Serra de Tramuntana mountain hikes, cycling the quieter back roads, and visiting the old towns of Soller and Deia before the summer surge. April brings the Semana Santa (Easter Week) processions in Palma and the spring cycling season, when professional teams train on the mountain roads. October still has beach-level temperatures and is excellent for hiking. November through March is quiet. Most beach resorts close, but Palma maintains year-round city life with the Cathedral, galleries, and local restaurants fully open.
