Find your eSIM by matching its ICCID to a line on your phone

HelloRoam Editorial TeamLast updated:

The ICCID identifies your eSIM; a line's name does not. Open the HelloRoam app under My eSIM, More Detail, About Your eSIM to read and copy it, or check Settings, General, About on iPhone. Compare that number with your phone's list of lines: the match is your HelloRoam eSIM, ready to rename.

Spot the right line from the screen

Your phone's list of mobile lines shows names like Travel, Secondary or eSIM 2.
A name is only a label. Match the ICCID instead.
Two HelloRoam lines show the same name.
Read the ICCID for each one in the HelloRoam app, then match them to the lines.
You cannot tell which line is the eSIM and which is the physical SIM.
The line whose number matches the app is the HelloRoam one.
The line's details look empty while that line is switched off.
Your phone may show a line's details only while it is on. The app shows the number either way.
The eSIM has ended and no longer sits under Current in the app.
Open the Expired tab and tap More Detail. The number is still there.

Where the ICCID sits on each phone

iPhone

An iPhone lists the ICCID in its own settings. Read it there, then match it against the app.

  1. Open Settings > General > About.
  2. Scroll the list and look for ICCID.
  3. With two lines, read the ICCID shown for each one.
  4. You can also open Settings > Cellular and tap the line's details.
  5. Compare that number with the ICCID in the HelloRoam app.
  6. When they match, rename the line to your destination.

Samsung

No Samsung screen is confirmed to name the ICCID, so read the number in the HelloRoam app first.

  1. Sign in to the HelloRoam app and open the My eSIM tab.
  2. Tap More Detail on the eSIM's card.
  3. Scroll to General information, then tap About Your eSIM.
  4. Read the ICCID in the first row, or tap the copy button.
  5. Open Settings > Connections > SIM manager and tap the eSIM's entry.
  6. Look under Settings > About phone too, where submenu names vary by model.
  7. Match the number, then rename the line to your destination.

Pixel

No Pixel settings screen is confirmed to list the ICCID. Read it in the HelloRoam app, then find the line.

  1. Sign in to the HelloRoam app and open the My eSIM tab.
  2. Tap More Detail on the eSIM's card.
  3. Scroll to General information, then tap About Your eSIM.
  4. Read the ICCID in the first row, or tap the copy button.
  5. Open Settings > Network & internet > SIMs to see your lines.
  6. Tap the HelloRoam line and rename it to your destination.

Other Android

Menu names change by brand and Android version. Read the number in the app, then match it to a line.

  1. Sign in to the HelloRoam app and open the My eSIM tab.
  2. Tap More Detail, then scroll to General information.
  3. Tap About Your eSIM and read the ICCID in the first row.
  4. Open Settings > Network & internet > Mobile network to reach your lines.
  5. Tap the eSIM's entry, then rename it to your destination.

When the number will not show

  1. The app lists your eSIMs only when you are signed in. Sign in, then open the My eSIM tab in the HelloRoam app.
  2. An eSIM that has ended sits under the Expired tab, not Current. More Detail still opens for it.
  3. Your phone may show a line's details only while that line is turned on. The app shows the number whatever the line is doing.
  4. Reading the number in the app changes nothing on your phone. The row only shows the number, and a copy button sits next to it.
  5. You can also name the eSIM inside the app while it is still active. Tap Edit eSIM Tag on the card, type a Label Name and save. That name shows in the app only.
  6. If the number on your phone matches nothing in the app, write to help@helloroam.com. Send the number you read and the screen you read it on.
  7. Don't delete an eSIM to work out which one it is. Deleting is never the fix, and the app shows the number without touching your lines.

What support needs to spot your eSIM

Write to help@helloroam.com. Say which problem you have: telling your lines apart, telling two HelloRoam eSIMs apart, or a number that matches nothing in the app. Send this with your first message.

  • Your order number. In the app, scroll to Additional details and tap Purchase information.
  • The ICCID of the eSIM you are asking about, copied from the app.
  • Your phone brand and model.
  • The country and city you are in now.
  • Whether the HelloRoam line is turned on, and whether it is the line chosen for mobile data.
  • The exact words of any error message. 'It doesn't work' costs you another round of questions.
  • A screenshot of your phone's list of lines, so support can see which line is which.
  • On a Samsung, the SIM manager screen, and the eSIM's details if you have more than one.
  • If a number on your phone matches nothing in the app, the number you read and where you read it.
  • Crop any QR code out of a screenshot before you send it. The app screen that holds the ICCID also holds install codes.

ICCID questions from the app and phone

Where do I find my eSIM on my iPhone?

Open Settings, then Cellular or Mobile data, and look at the list of lines. Your iPhone lists every line it holds, and a line you switched off still sits there, so a missing line means it is not installed. Tap a line to see its own details. Match the ICCID against your order to be sure which one is the HelloRoam line.

What is the eSIM number on my iPhone called, and where do I read it?

It's called the ICCID, the number that identifies your eSIM instead of the line's name. Some people search for the e SIM number, and this is the number they mean. The app's ICCID row only displays it, next to a copy button.

Is there an eSIM number lookup tool?

There is no HelloRoam lookup tool for it, and you do not need one. It sits in two places you already have. The HelloRoam app shows it on the eSIM's own card, and your phone lists it in the settings for that line. Match the two to be certain which line is which.

How do I know which eSIM is mine when I have more than one on my phone?

Match the ICCID, not the name. A line called Travel, Secondary or eSIM 2 can be any line on your phone, so the name settles nothing. A second e-sim can even show the same name as the first. Read each number in the app, compare it with the line, then rename the line you have identified.

How do I tell if it's an eSIM or a physical SIM in Settings, General, About?

Read the ICCID listed for each line on that screen, then compare both with the number in the HelloRoam app. The line whose number matches the app is your HelloRoam eSIM. The other line is a physical SIM or another eSIM. The names on the lines settle nothing, because a label can say anything.
