Our eSIM plans download to a chip inside your phone, so you buy online before you fly. A local SIM card is a plastic card you usually buy after you land.

On a trip to Europe, my hotel Wi-Fi was so slow and outside Wi-Fi was unreliable. I couldn’t take it anymore so I got helloroam for a few days. It was tricky to set up correctly because of the primary settings (with my original number). But I reached out to their customer service via WhatsApp. Super responsive and helpful, with specific and clear steps to troubleshoot. Appreciate having 4G roaming instead of being stuck with in and out Wi-Fi during my trip!!

Yes, WhatsApp keeps working while you travel, because your account stays linked to your home number, not to the SIM. Our plans are data only and add no new phone number. You do not need a contract: our plans are one-time prepaid purchases with no monthly bill or renewal. Our 180-day refund covers any eSIM that has not connected to a network yet, even if you installed it. We also refund a plan your phone cannot use. To claim a refund, contact our support team: WhatsApp and email.

Yes, you can buy your plan any time before your trip and install it at home on Wi-Fi. Its days start on first connection to a network it covers, not at install.
