Cape Verde has two mobile operators: CV Telecom (Cabo Verde Telecom) and Unitel T+. CV Telecom is the dominant operator with the wider 4G coverage across the main tourist islands. Unitel T+ is a smaller operator with growing 4G presence in urban areas.
Sal Island has solid 4G coverage in Santa Maria, the main resort town, and across the island. Espargos, Sal's second town, is also well covered. Boa Vista has 4G in Sal Rei, the main town, and in main resort areas. Santiago has strong 4G in Praia and Assomada. São Vicente has 4G in Mindelo, the main city.
Santo Antão, known for its dramatic hiking terrain, is an exception. The island's valleys (Paúl and Ribeira Grande) have 3G coverage in main towns, but the ridge trails and upper valley paths often lose signal. Download offline maps and trail guides before any Santo Antão hike. Fogo Island has 4G in São Filipe town and some 3G in villages near the volcano. The Chã das Caldeiras crater area inside Fogo volcano has weak to no signal. The ferry crossing between islands loses signal in open water.
