Colombia has three main operators: Claro Colombia (América Móvil), Tigo Colombia, and Movistar Colombia (Telefónica). Claro has the widest network and the strongest 5G rollout. Tigo has solid urban 4G in main cities. Movistar covers Bogotá, Medellín, and Cali well.
Bogotá has strong 5G and 4G coverage across all city zones, the Candelaria historic center, El Poblado-equivalent Zona Rosa, and El Dorado International Airport. Medellín has excellent 4G and growing 5G coverage in El Centro, El Poblado, Laureles, and across the metro and cable car areas. Cartagena has solid 4G coverage in the walled old city, Getsemaní, Bocagrande, and Rosario Islands ferry departure areas. Cali and Barranquilla have strong urban 4G.
Rural and jungle areas are the connectivity challenge. The Lost City trek (Ciudad Perdida) from Santa Marta takes 4 to 6 days through jungle with no signal except near the start of the trail. The Amazon town of Leticia has 4G in the urban area. The Cocora Valley (giant wax palms) near Salento in the Coffee Region has 4G at the valley entrance and the town of Salento. The jungle routes lose signal quickly. Download offline maps before any multi-day trek.
