Chad has two main mobile operators: Airtel Chad and Salam (Sotel Chad). Airtel has the wider footprint in N'Djamena and along main population corridors. Salam operates as the state telecom arm. Both provide 3G and some limited 4G in N'Djamena. Coverage drops to 2G or nothing outside main towns.
N'Djamena has 3G and partial 4G coverage in the city center near Avenue Charles de Gaulle, the Grand Marché, and the main administrative areas. The Lake Chad shore near N'Djamena has some 2G to 3G coverage. Sarh, Moundou, and Abéché (the main provincial towns) have 2G to 3G coverage in their urban centers.
The vast Saharan north, including the Tibesti and Ennedi regions, has no mobile coverage. The Zakouma National Park in the southeast has no mobile signal in the park. The entire northeastern quadrant of Chad, bordering Sudan and Libya, is off the network entirely. Download offline maps for any travel outside N'Djamena and consult security assessments. Chad is one of the world's most challenging connectivity and safety environments.
