Kenya has three operators: Safaricom (majority Vodafone-owned), Airtel Kenya, and Telkom Kenya. Safaricom operates the widest network by coverage and subscriber count. Airtel Kenya has launched 5G in Nairobi alongside Safaricom's 5G rollout. HelloRoam eSIMs connect via Airtel Kenya and its partner networks.
Nairobi has good 4G and expanding 5G coverage. The CBD, Westlands, Karen, and major shopping malls have strong signal. Mombasa has solid 4G coverage along the coast, in the old town, and in the hotel beach strip north and south of the island. Kisumu on Lake Victoria has 4G in the city with weaker reach on the lake shores.
Safari parks present the biggest challenge for mobile connectivity. Amboseli has 4G at the main gate and some lodges. Tsavo West and East are large parks with very limited mobile coverage except near towns like Voi and Mtito Andei on the main Mombasa Road. Mount Kenya National Park has signal at lower elevations near Nanyuki but drops significantly above 3,000 meters. The Lamu Archipelago on the coast has 4G in Lamu town with weaker signal on outlying islands.
