Auckland is the strongest mobile network city in New Zealand. Spark NZ and One NZ lead 5G deployment across the CBD, Ponsonby, Parnell, Newmarket, and the North Shore. 2degrees provides additional coverage and competes well in urban zones.
The CBD including Queen Street, Britomart, and Viaduct Harbour has full 5G and 4G coverage. Auckland waterfront, the Sky Tower area, and Karangahape Road are all well covered. Ponsonby and Grey Lynn have solid 5G. Newmarket and Remuera have strong 4G and 5G. Takapuna on the North Shore has good 5G coverage.
The main dead zones in Auckland are in the Waitakere Ranges in West Auckland, where dense bush and steep valleys block signal. The Waitakere Regional Park trails and Piha Beach have patchy 4G at best. Titirangi village at the ranges' edge has basic coverage. Similarly, rural areas south of Papakura and in the Hunua Ranges have gaps.
The Harbour Bridge crossing has 4G coverage. Ferries from the Britomart Ferry Building to Devonport, Waiheke Island, and Tiritiri Matangi have good 4G near the city. Signal weakens mid-harbour on longer ferry crossings to Waiheke. Waiheke Island town centers (Oneroa, Ostend) have 4G. Remote beaches on Waiheke may drop to weak signal. Indian travellers should check that their handset supports the network frequencies used at this destination.
